Paraphrase this super hard sentence for me???!?

Steinbeck bases the themes and details off of the farmhands in California farms because it adds a realistic affect. George and Lenny's dream [I don't know what that is, but...] set a barrier to what they can due, and Steinbeck draws the reader's attentino to this because it brings out the social conditions in California's farms.
